Session 10 - "Sushi House"

Here is a detailed account of who did what and how they did it in the D&D notes:

The Party as a Group:

  • Walked through a portal to Sigil: The entire group traveled through a portal that took them to Sigil, the city of doors.
  • Emerged in a hipster cafe: They appeared inside the broom closet of a cafe in Sigil.
  • Talked to the cafe owner (Gear): The group spoke with the owner of the cafe, Gear, who told them about Smith and Anette Verona.
  • Received the key to Smith’s house: Verona (impersonating Anette) was given the key to Smith’s house.
  • Were shown a map of Sigil: They saw that Sigil is shaped like a donut or torus.
  • Traveled to Smith’s house: The group made their way from the market ward to the clerk’s ward where Smith’s house was located.
  • Entered Smith’s trashed house: They found the inside of the house overflowing with trash.
  • Discovered a portrait of Antoinette: They found a large portrait of Antoinette covered in 30 years of seen.
  • Found magical rings: Within the seen at the base of the portrait, they discovered some magical rings which they cleaned and took.
  • Discovered a blocked-off portal: Someone with x-ray vision saw a portal in one of the back rooms that was entirely blocked off by trash.
  • Heard shuffling in the trash: The group heard something crawling through the trash near the hidden portal.
  • Attempted to clear the trash: Several members worked to clear a path to the portal.
  • Discussed the nature of the second portal: They speculated about its destination and how to use it.
  • Attempted to reconstruct the broken portal: After Bar broke the portal, the group worked together to try and piece it back together using the magnetic bricks, with Phil supervising and giving directions.
  • Decided to leave Smith’s house: Due to the smell and lack of progress with the portal, the group decided to find lodging for the evening.
  • Started to head towards an inn: The party collectively began to walk towards a more comfortable place to stay.

Gus:

  • Used a spell to detect the portal: Gus was the one who used a spell and saw the portal hidden behind the trash.
  • Was inside the room with the trash: He was present with Old Greg when the portal was first discovered.
  • Observed the wall of trash: He was standing in front of the trash pile, unsure of what to do.
  • Confirmed the presence of the portal: He exclaimed that there was a portal behind the wall of trash.
  • Stuck his head through the reconstructed portal: Gus put his head through the rebuilt portal and saw the same trash-filled room on the other side.
  • Possibly suggested throwing Peral through the portal: Based on the context of Verona stopping someone from doing this.

Old Greg:

  • Was inside the room with the trash: He was present with Gus when the portal was first discovered.
  • Was asked to clear the trash: Another character (unnamed at that moment) suggested Greg clear out the trash.

  • Was oblivious to the sounds in the trash: While others heard shuffling, Bob was wandering off and did not notice.
  • Was angry and hungry: He was upset about the lack of edible food in the house.
  • Helped clear the trash: Bob aided Bar in scooping out the trash to create a path to the portal.
  • Leaned on the edge of the portal and broke it: Bar leaned on the portal, causing it to fall into pieces.
  • Helped reconstruct the portal: Bob assisted Greg in trying to keep the magnetic bricks separated and in place.

AR:

  • Attempted to find salvageable food: AR tried to see if there was any edible food amongst the trash using a survival check but found mostly moldy items.
  • Discovered the fruitcake: AR found a half-eaten fruitcake that looked perfectly preserved.
  • Identified the “Brute Cake”: Using survival and history checks, AR determined the fruitcake smelled of sulfur, might be from the Nine Hells or the Abyss, and named it “The Brute Cake”.
  • Decided to take the fruitcake: Despite its ominous nature, Bar decided to take the fruitcake.

Verona (the Player Character):

  • Was unhelpful in reconstructing the portal: Peral was also described as getting in the way during the reconstruction.
  • Ran through the reconstructed portal: Following a coin flip decision, Peral ran through the portal and slammed into the trash on the other side.
  • Looked at his book for clues about the portal: Peral was asked to examine his book for information on constructing such portals.
  • Was slow at reading: It was noted that Peral reads slowly.
